Mia Farrow: The Original Duck and Cover Kid

Alert, Not Alarmed - as the Farrows flee in an orderly fashion as they illustrate their personal family atomic attack drillThe intrepid CONELRAD Atomic Secrets Research Team has just excavated another long forgotten gem of Atomic Culture. This time we reveal Mia Farrow's early role as co-star to Civil Defense "Duck and Cover" cartoon spokes-reptile Bert the Turtle! Ms. Farrow was kind enough to share with our readers her memories of the February 1952 Cold War publicity stunt which featured her talented family illustrating for assembled press the recommended "Alert, Not Alarmed" atomic attack defense drill.

See the 7-year-old Maria de Lourdes (as Mia was known at the time) and her brothers warm to Bert's calming message of "Duck and Cover."
