TITLE: ABOVE AND BEYOND

Above and Beyond - 1952

ABOVE AND BEYOND
DIRECTORS: Melvin Frank, Norman Panama
YEAR: 1952

Robert Taylor is Col. Paul Tibbets and Eleanor Parker is Lucy Tibbets in the "love story behind the billion dollar secret." As the tagline suggests, Hollywood actually managed to produce a romance set against the dropping of the first atomic bomb. Made for an audience still cheering the end of World War II and basking in an optimistic new age.

Yes, the future Popeye Doyle once appeared in an atomic safety film.
